To skirt, or not to skirt...

Ok, so I'm shopping for my new fall looks, and I'm thinking about adding some skirts in the mix. I've really stayed away from them in recent years because the only ones I seem to like are the full circle sort of skirts, that really don't go with anything.
I stumbled across the fact that there are a ton of high waisted pencil skirts out now. I'm debating whether or not to invest, so Anje I want your opinion too on this post.

Heres some pros and cons:

Pros: Can flatten your tummy, and hip region
Can go with many more tops than the average denim or mini skirt
Potential for daily, casual, and night wear

Cons: May only look good on tall skinny model types, being shorter, as I am, it may just remind people of the fact that I am very short.
Can only flatten so much, if your trying to hide more then just a little pouche it will only empathsize the fact that you poured yourself into such a garment.
May be an extremely fleeting trend, that will be out of style in a few months.
Conclusion at the moment: If one were to invest in such a skirt, fit would absolutely be KEY. Not too tight, not too long, etc.

For now my mind is still not made up...

Annoyance

Just based on a few observations after going out with my fav fashion concious d!va K8...

Boys:

1.  Gel or any other type of clumping product in your hair is so out that I want to scream whenever I see it. A good rule of thumb is to think to yourself; if you were to eat a piece of your hair and it would make a crunching noise, then it probably has way too much product in it.

2.  No more spikes and faux hawks please. It looks so dumb in pictures.

3.  White puka shells.  Really? We aren't from the God-foresaken west coast and they just are not hot anymore.  Replace it with wooden beads. Hot and Midwestern urban.

4.  If your eyes are dark brown, contacts will not do what they are supposed to do on you.  They don't actually change your eye color and they don't actually look that great.  It just looks like you are wearing contacts.  And what is the point of that? I told someone last night with this issue that "brown is profound".  I stand by that statement.

I guess the biggest thing I want to stress is that when I see a great male specimen, like a decently attractive guy and he is completely short-changing himself and his gorgeous face/bod by these fashion no-nos... it really breaks my heart.

Guys, I tell you because I love you.
I care.

Brief Reflections On Japan

I was trying to update throughout my trip...
however google and the blog would not show up in anything but Japanese so now...
I'm typing through my jet lag right now finally looking through my pictures, and realizing what an insane trip of a lifetime I had. Of course I will go back, but you can never redo your first time in a place. I work best when tired with lists, and I will elaborate when I have more sleep...

General Impressions of Japan:
1. Most if not all of the Young Men are ridiculously good looking and extremely well dressed.
They have some of the best hair cuts and dye jobs imaginable, and some of the nicest shoes from Italy. They also are not ashamed to carry around fashionable bags, and this doesn't only apply to the gay guys!
2. All the Girls are also super cute and well dressed.
For the most part they are tiny, and have great bangs, and their fashion sense is to die for... more on this in the next list.
3. They own insanely cute little dogs.
Women carry them in baskets on their bikes, or walk them decked out in the latest LV or Coach collar and leashes, and more often then not they have little doggy outfits to match their human counter parts.
4. There are Kami there...
Spirits...
5. The Cute Culture is out of control! Everywhere you go you WILL see something cripplingly cute. They have it down to a science, the packaging, the signs, the ads, and even the condoms are covered in cuteness, so when you go beware...

Next Time a more through fashion focus... Now for some sleep...

Fabulous Waste of Time #54

Hello everyone!
While we are waiting for k8's updates I found a place for us to waste some time.

Its an online "fashion community" that reminds me of a cross between facebook and an old LiveJournal community dedicated to showcasing dumb stylized pics of yourself...

However!

Its much more fabulous due to several reasons.  The pictures are of a high quality and significantly less dependent on skewed angles and crazy high contrast levels. It is dedicated to showing your "looks" so you photograph your outfits... its great.  And there is noooo negativity allowed.

(We all remember the mean comments that our entry post would get on that LJ community from the obese moderator of the community or the 30 year old that gets off feeling socially superior when she makes fun of a 14 year old girl's haircut)

ANYWAY.
check it out.
